Jun. 1--It's not just Howard Porter I mourn, it's the Big Five.
Both of those 50-somethings died prematurely, unnecessarily, tragically.
Porter, killed in a savage beating last week in Minnesota, will be buried soon.
Technically, the Big Five still exists. Realistically, it stopped breathing in the early 1980s when greed and shortsightedness conspired in its assassination.
Et tu, Rollie?
It's been on life-support ever since, awaiting only an official funeral.
