Setting the stage for a battle over patients in two of the region's fastest-growing areas, Bon Secours Hampton Roads Health System announced Thursday it will apply to the state to build new hospitals in northern Suffolk and southern Virginia Beach. But the health system said it wants to greatly downsize its DePaul Medical Center in Norfolk.
Bon Secours said it will seek state approval to replace the 214-bed DePaul with a new hospital on the same campus that would have 30 to 60 beds. It said it would use the bulk of beds eliminated at DePaul to build a 50- to 80-bed hospital at its ...
