Jun. 1--A month ago, Susie Eisenach, 41, of Lincoln, Neb. hovered at No. 26 on the waiting list for the American Cancer Society Sandra J. Schulze Hope Lodge.
She's in Rochester on the second week of a six-week radiation regimen to attack remaining tumor tissue that threatens her optic nerve.
"I stayed at 26, and 25, for like three weeks, and then I was No. 11 for a week, and then, last week, I went up pretty fast," Eisenach said. "I think a lot of people left, and a lot of rooms opened up, and I moved up pretty quickly."
A $5 million expansion to double the size of Hope Lodge is complete, and the facility has begun ...
