Jun. 2--With the average cost of a wedding nearing $20,000, creative couples in the Buffalo-Niagara area are finding ways to save money while still holding on to their dreams.
From computer-generated invitations to homemade veils and silk flowers, brides and grooms are looking for ways to keep costs down. Sometimes, it's just a matter of focusing on what's important to you.
"For me, it's good food and a lot of it," said Melissa Betz, 23, of Hamburg. "Full-course meal, premium bar, champagne for everyone and wine throughout dinner. I'm putting a lot into the food and drinks. Everything else I will try to do on my own."
