Jun. 2--Most leaned back, relaxed and enjoyed the ride. A few sat stiffly, gripping the safety bar, apparently having just discovered a latent fear of heights.

But overall, reaction was positive to the new Sky Safari ride at the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo when it debuted at 11 a.m. Friday. About 100 people had gathered for the first ride, and a cheer went up when the first passengers climbed aboard and were swept up into the air.

Lilie Cox, 6, of Quincy, Mich., pronounced the experience as "comfortable. ... We were high, like a giraffe," she said.

Her mother, Brook Cox, concurred, but added "it will be really neat when it's all done."
