ST. LOUIS _ Before Wednesday's game in Colorado, Tony La Russa once again showed why he's still highly capable of living up to his reputation of being one of baseball's best managers and leaders.
La Russa's demoralized team was skidding on another losing streak and had just lost catcher Yadier Molina (broken wrist) for several weeks. La Russa called a rare clubhouse meeting and sent the right message: There's no pouting in baseball. It won't help to feel sorry for yourselves. So regroup and focus and play hard and make things better.
The Cardinals responded. They won Wednesday's game, beat the Rockies again on Thursday ...
