The New York City Council has formed a task force on insurance and has named Brooklyn Councilmember Howard Lasher as its head.
In an interview, Mr. Lasher acknowledged that the impetus for forming the task force "was me." His intent is to foster a dialogue between the city and the insurance industry--an industry which contributes significantly to the city economy and affects all aspects of residents' lives and businesses in New York, he said.
The task force will seek to formulate City Council policy positions on insurance, present them to state legislators and the insurance department, and "hopefully work pretty closely to enact legislation that would be ...
