Jun. 4--The news is bad in Yankee Town. Salvation just got pushed back five days.
Salvation, in this case, answers to the name Roger Clemens. It will earn a prorated $28 million to pitch in what's left of this season. And salvation, as we speak, is suffering from a fatigued right groin.
Clemens, who has tuned up in three minor league games, was to have made his big-league debut today against the White Sox. New plan: a home start Saturday against Pittsburgh. The Yankees aren't asking for much. A two-hit shutout with 15 strikeouts would be just fine.
Which means the news in Yankee Town is even worse than the Yankees ...
