SAN JOSE, Calif. _ To survive in stress-ravaged Silicon Valley, Tandem manager Jim Sanders sticks green dots on his telephone, computer _ even his water glass. They're reminders to meditate on his breathing when his mind starts spinning off in a jillion directions.
``When I focus my brain on breathing, it helps me reduce the background noise and increase my clarity of thought and judgment,'' says Sanders, 58. ``Then I can respond to the problem at hand, instead of having knee-jerk reactions to everything around me.''
