TOKYO, June 5 Asia Pulse - Toshiba Corp. (6502) said Monday that it has developed an HD DVD drive for notebook computers that features read, write and rewrite capabilities.

HD DVD allows users to back up large amounts of data and record high-definition movies. Sample shipments of the drive begin next month.
