Jun. 5--OAKLAND, Calif. -- Just when it appeared the sleepy Red Sox had awakened in time Monday night for another of their stirring comeback victories, the Athletics made it all seem like a bad dream.
After the Red Sox scored twice in the ninth to tie the score, Eric Chavez homered off Kyle Snyder (1-1) in the bottom of the 11th for a 5-4 victory before 28,177 at McAfee Coliseum.
The Red Sox lost back-to-back games for just the fourth time. Diasuke Matsuzaka takes the mound tonight to try and avoid the first three-game losing streak of the season.
