POLICE, fire services and local councils are being placed under pressure to buy British cars such as Birmingham-made Jaguars.
City MP Sion Simon (Lab Erdington) is writing to authorities asking them to reveal which manufacturers they buy from, and why.
He is supporting a campaign from trade union Amicus which urges public services to buy British.
Along with fellow West Midland MPs, he has also tabled a series of official written questions in the House of Commons asking Government Ministers what kind of official car they drive.
Mr Simon's constituency employs the Jaguar factory in Castle Bromwich, Birmingham, which employs 3,000 people.
