The Kane County Veterans Memorial was dedicated on Nov. 11, 2004, with 835 names.
Monday, people gathered for a solemn Memorial Day ceremony to add eight more.
"(It's) 40 years overdue. We're just thankful they did this," said Linda Hartman, an Aurora woman and sister of Gary Harbin, an Army private first class killed in a Viet Cong ambush in December 1966.
Although Harbin was the first Aurora serviceman killed in the Vietnam War, his service records mistakenly said he lived in Oswego until his family provided documentation to the Kane County Veterans Assistance Committee.
