Jun. 6--Almost 70 local farmers and planters gathered Tuesday at the Texas A&M University Agricultural Research and Extension Center in Beaumont to discuss the proposed closure of the Jefferson-Orange County Farm Service Agency office.

The Farm Service Agency has proposed closing 25 county offices in the state. If the Jefferson-Orange office were to close, it would be consolidated with the Liberty-Hardin County Farm Service Agency in Liberty.
