Jun. 6--The 17 people who pleaded guilty in the Henry County Sheriff's Office corruption probe will be sentenced in September, according to court papers filed Monday.
Sheriff Frank Cassell, who pleaded guilty last month to making a false statement to an investigator, will be sentenced Sept. 11 in U.S. District Court in Roanoke.
Federal prosecutors have said Cassell ignored misdeeds by his officers, including drug sales and theft of evidence. His half century of police work ended shortly after an October mass indictment that included a dozen members of his office.
