WORCESTER - Two witnesses testified yesterday in U.S. District Court that they saw a Worcester police patrolman with illegal drugs.

It was the opening day of testimony in the U.S. District Court trial of Heriberto Arroyo, who was suspended from the Police Department without pay. That followed his arrest in August 2005 after he was indicted on charges of conspiracy to distribute the drugs GHB and GBL and conspiracy to possess cocaine and Ecstasy.

All three of his co-defendants, including a Worcester police officer who has resigned, have pleaded guilty in the case and are awaiting sentencing.
