Jun. 7--When Kyle Kendrick did a little research on former Baltimore Orioles star Jim Palmer Tuesday night, he was blown away at the numbers in the complete game category.
Palmer closed out 211 of his 521 career starts during an era when the term "pitch count"
was as significant as "iPod." The hall-offamer had 25 complete games in 1975, and that was only good enough for second in the bigs. (Six was good enough to lead the majors in 2006.)
Kendrick got to meet Palmer, who was at FirstEnergy Stadium as part of a team promotion, before Wednesday's start against Harrisburg. Apparently inspired, the 23-year-old prospect ...
