These days teachers are more likely to complain that books aimed at teens place glitz over substance, but this book could be a case where the complaint is reversed. The substance here is substantive and positive. The presentation is a bit blah. Text runs on, black page after black page, broken only by subheads. A color insert helps, as does a cover of sports snapshots, but hardly makes each separate baseball story more initially inviting.
