A well-intentioned bill in the New Hampshire Legislature that would ban protests at funerals is a classic example of the cure being worse than the disease.
The bill was inspired by members of the Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church, a group of deluded zealots who travel the land and picket funerals of military personnel to express their belief that the death of our soldiers and other ills plaguing the nation are God's punishment for homosexuality in America.
