ATLANTA--Retailers say the selection of updated area rug styles, from lower-end polypropylenes to higher-end wools, was up to their exacting standards at the january Atlanta Area Rugs Market.
Traditional patterns and styles were at the top of retailers' lists, as were natural looks in wool, jute, hemp, sisal and polypropylene; subtle contemporary pieces; cheerful hooked rugs, and primitive gabbeh and ethnic designs.
"There is such a variety of patterns, styles and colors out there now," says Wayne Wenger, senior buyer for Dayton Hudson. "I'm seeing textured rugs next to Orientals, florals next to contemporaries. It's great. "
