Jun. 7--A Christian-based, residential drug and alcohol recovery home in Pittsburg won't be allowed to double its capacity to 12 men, the City Council has decided.
In one of the only split votes it has issued in months, the council this week upheld an appeal made by a resident living near the house, on the corner of School Street and Railroad Avenue, and denied a permit that would have allowed it to expand. Mayor Ben Johnson, Vice Mayor Will Casey and Councilmember Salvatore Evola voted yes; Councilmembers Michael Kee and Nancy Parent voted no.
