Jun. 7--Harrison Square's critics no doubt will view the city's desire to commit $2.5 million in Grand Wayne Convention Center funds to a new hotel more proof the project should be stopped before it wastes millions of taxpayer dollars.
Individual aspects of this week's news, in fact, could be used to justify such pessimism. But, on balance, the proposal deserves serious consideration because it is relatively safe, consistent with Harrison Square's intent and clearly preferable to doing nothing at all.
