CLINTON - It came down to two votes in a recount Tuesday night in a Planning Board contest that ended in a tie at the May 7 annual town election.
Newcomer Clifford J. Thompson defeated incumbent Rebecca L. Stahl 1,158 to 1,156 after five hours of hand counting. There were 232 blanks and six write-in ballots.
The May tally was a 1,151 tie between Mrs. Stahl and Mr. Thompson.
Assistant Town Clerk Holly P. Sargent said Mr. Thompson was sworn in by Town Clerk Philip R. Boyce after the results were announced around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday at Town Hall. His first Planning Board meeting of his five-year term was last night.Mrs. Sargent said none of ...
