WORCESTER - Citing the need for an economic turnaround, Morris A. Bergman, a local lawyer and vice chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals, has announced his candidacy for city councilor at large.
Mr. Bergman outlined an approach to city politics based on what he described as pragmatism rather than sound bites.
Mr. Bergman said the City Council needs people who will be frank with the electorate.
"It's full of people that say what they think people want to hear," he said. "But that's a disservice to the taxpayers of Worcester. When you hide the problems, you can't start the process of correcting them."
