The concept of "mission" has undergone a familiar change in recent decades. Professor M. Deneken has analysed the phenomenon in a recent study in which he shows the way in which the term is used by priests on World Mission Sunday: "From a preaching that insisted on a missionary outreach to other countries it has been changed into a preaching that promotes mission within Christian communities themselves".
