Jun. 8--EAST ALTON -- A former Alton resident is accused of stealing more than $35,000 from a credit union by using a check apparently manufactured on a personal computer.
Vernysha E. Davis, 20, of St. Louis, was charged in Madison County Circuit Court with felony theft and deceptive practices.
Court documents claim she stole $35,500 from the Abbco Credit Union, 626 Lewis and Clark Blvd. in East Alton, between Nov. 20 and Nov. 22. The deceptive practice charge claims she deposited a check to herself for $99,999, dated Oct. 31, drawn on Commercia Bank, knowing the check would not be honored by the bank. ...
