It is a great pleasure and a signal honour for me to take part in tonight's presentation of the 1994 Neustadt International Prize for Literature to a fellow Barbadian, Professor Kamau Brathwaite, a poet, historian, literary critic, lecturer, essayist, and lover of jazz.
