The venerable Thich Nhat Hanh is well known for his antiwar activities during the Vietnam conflict as a Columbia University graduate student and lecturer and, in the past twenty years or so, as a learned Zen master who travels between France, Canada, and the U.S. to teach meditation and preach on war and peace, morals, reconciliation, the meaning of exile, and the plight of the Vietnamese boat people.
