Jun. 9--MARK JOHNSON REMEMBERS those days a few years back when he was a young golfer trying to hit the ball as far as he could.
Johnson can hit the ball pretty far and very straight these days. He hit a growth spurt during his four years as a member of Jenks High School's varsity boys golf team.
Johnson sprouted four inches, from 5-foot-5 as a freshman, to 5-9 as a senior and added 25 pounds to 150.
His growth as a young man was matched by his development as a golfer, which led to the 2007 Tulsa World All-Metro High School Boys Golfer of the Year honor.
