Jun. 10--The playground on the east side of Highland Park was looking somewhat disheveled Friday, with gray skies looming over the bare, flood-scoured earth around the swingsets and slides. But the look of one of the city's most popular play spots could change drastically this fall if the Kokomo Common Council decides to move on a proposed $550,000 makeover. Kokomo Mayor Matt McKillip is asking council to fund what city parks superintendent Dan Smith calls "a full rehab" of the playground area, including new play equipment, a larger parking area, concrete walk paths, and a drainage system designed to keep the area free of the flood ...
