After World War II when Max Cohen was looking around for a need that he might fill to get started in his own business, he noticed that a number of stores were setting up rental tables to conduct outside sales. It was obvious, he decided, that there was a need for a quality folding product to offer to the rental market.

Seizing the opportunity, Cohen developed a lightweight, durable and portable plywood folding table that he could offer to department and rental stores.
