Born in Madrid in 1930, Cristobal Halffter is one of Spain's most prolific and outstanding contemporary composers. Brought up in a musical family (his uncles Ernesto and Rodolfo Halffter were both renowned composers), Halffter has composed significant works in several genres. In the concerto genre, he has written two for cello, one for violin, two for piano, a double concerto for violin and viola, a flute concerto for chamber ensemble.
