As much as $3 billion a year could be lost in S.D.
San Diego could lose $3 billion a year and 10,000 to 16,000 civilian jobs under the final round of military base closings, according to several local defense industry analysts.
The losses could even be greater, depending on which bases get the ax, but several experts said they expect no more than four of San Diego's 15 military installations to close in a worst-case scenario. They also said it is unlikely San Diego will be spared from any cuts.
