This month's column will be centred on recently published texts of works that have assured places in the literary canon. It begins with a tribute to CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY PRESS which has brought out the final five volumes in The Cambridge Edition of the Works of Jane Austen under the general editorship of Professor Janet Todd. The recently published volumes include four of the most famous novels which we shall examine in order of publication.
