Jun. 12--Had it not been for an anonymous letter that steered detectives investigating Linda Fishman's death toward Fred Kretzmer, the case would have gone cold and Kretzmer might have gotten away with murder.

Instead, Kretzmer was sentenced to 20 years in prison Monday after pleading guilty to second-degree murder and providing the answers Fishman's family had been awaiting for more than four years.
