Jun. 12--The three Iron Range mine tragedies occurring in nine months were unrelated. They were disparate events, each attributed to circumstances that had nothing to do with the others.
But the sorrow shared by the families, friends and coworkers of Andrew Reed, Deane Driscoll and Donavon Ray Dunblazier knows no such distinction. All met a premature end, and all are missed.
Dunblazier, 49, a 30-year employee of Mittal Steel USA, died Friday when the crane he was operating at the Minorca Mine near Virginia tipped over. His death followed the April 18 accident that claimed the life of Driscoll, a 50-year-old drill operator, whose drill tipped over due to ...
