Overall, Minnesota fares well in a report on graduation rates by Education Week magazine. But, as it seems with so many reports detailing education statistics, there is good news - and bad news.
Using its own formula to compute graduation rates, Education Week lists Minnesota's overall 2003-04 graduation rate of 78.7 percent as 10th best in the United States.
But the numbers slip when looking at specific student groups. Black students in Minnesota have a 2003-04 graduation rate of only 42.7 percent, fourth lowest in the United States among black students. And the graduation rate for Asian students is 64.6 ...
