Jun. 15--A robbery suspect was critically injured after a bizarre abduction, robbery, chase, shootout and standoff in Osceola County's ChampionsGate community early Thursday.
John Ercolino's ordeal began before 3 a.m. when the 46-year-old Polk County man was abducted from his Four Corners home off U.S. Highway 27, Osceola sheriff's spokeswoman Twis Lizasuain said.
The suspect forced Ercolino behind the wheel of his car and ordered the frightened man to drive, she said. Ercolino drove to the nearby 7-Eleven at 8301 ChampionsGate Drive, dashed inside and locked himself in the back office.
