Jun. 15--Girl suffers head

injury in crash

DESTIN -- A 17-year-old girl was injured Thursday evening when a vehicle struck her near the corner of Scenic U.S. Highway 98 and Stingray Street in Crystal Beach, said Destin Fire Control District Capt. John Wykoff.

Initial reports stated the girl was riding a motor scooter when she was hit shortly after 6:30 p.m., said Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Michele Nicholson.

The girl, who was believed to be from out of town, was taken by helicopter to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola with an apparent head injury. Her condition was unknown.
