Jun. 16--THINK OF TODAY'S column as a long-winded Father's Day gift, of sorts.
Traditionally, Father's Day is a time for making good-natured fun of dads who can't fix stuff, or dads who fart too much or dads who might as well come straight from prime-time sitcoms. Father's Day gifts focus on things men are supposed to be interested in -- grilling burgers, watching TV, playing golf or mowing the grass.
I'm taking a different tack.
I want to give dads a gift of time. Freedom from one chore.
