Jun. 18--When White Sox general manager Ken Williams traded Freddy Garcia and Brandon McCarthy in deals for younger pitching, he said those trades with Philadelphia and Texas would help the Sox in 2007, as well as the future. While only John Danks is delivering immediate benefits in Chicago, he probably will be right.

Garcia (shoulder) and McCarthy (blister) went on the disabled list within five days of each other last week, and it's possible Garcia won't be back this year. He's eligible for free agency after this season, which means the Phillies might have only his 1-5 record to show for his $10 million salary and pitching prospects ...
