Some time ago, while driving through a rural Amish community, I found myself admiring the scenery; crisp linens flapping in the breeze, shiny black horse-drawn buggies, and meticulously well-kept barns. However, what I noticed the most were the colorful gardens outside the door of every Amish home.
These gardens contained many varieties of flowers and were extraordinarily colorful. They reminded me of the patchwork quilts that hung in so many of the downtown shops--each path of vegetation displaying luscious greens offset by a weaving thread of colorful flowers.
