Article: More state funds for N. Aurora?(News)

Byline: John Johnston Daily Herald Correspondent

The people knocking on doors throughout North Aurora are not being nosy; they're trying to land more state funds for the village.

Wednesday marked Special Census Day in the village and started a six-week process to find out just how many more people have made North Aurora their home since the last special census in 2004.

By taking a few minutes to answer questions, residents can help the town. However, village officials also want to get the word out to talk only with official census enumerators, who will be wearing a badge.

The 2004 census showed the population had increased by more than 3,000 people since 2000.
