ATLANTA--Risk managers can play an important role in helping their firms fight health care fraud, a consultant says.
Knowledge of health care fraud directed against workers' compensation and benefit programs can prepare risk managers to help their firms combating the threat, said Jeffery Smith, a consultant with Alexander & Alexander, in Atlanta.
"You also can't overlook the importance of communication in dealing with claimants," he said at the 1995 education seminar sponsored by the Atlanta chapter of the Risk and Insurance Management Society.
