On May 30th, Xiamen Municipal Government of Fujian Province announced that it has decided to suspend the Xiamen PX (paraxylene) project.

The PX project is planned in Haicang South Industry Zone, Xiamen--a touring city--near to local resident houses, school and scenic spots. Early on the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) conference held in March 2007, CPPCC members ever suggested the Xiamen PX project should be relocated. (CCR2007 No. 9)
