Duluth, Minn. -- Mary Akor, 30, became the first American in more than a decade to win the female division of the Grandma's Marathon, taking the top spot with a time of 2 hours, 35 minutes and 40 seconds.
Two Russians, Ramilia Burangulova, 46, and Tatiana Titova, 41, took second and third with times of 2:38:55 and 2:39:58, respectively.
Burangulova's finish is her latest strong showing in an impressive year - she won marathons in both Miami and Los Angeles.
Akor, a resident of Gardena, Calif., takes home the $10,000 top prize and gets her first marathon victory in three tries this year. A friend had mentioned to Akor ...
