Byline: Stephen Miller
Jun. 19--A familiar scene played out Sunday at Citizens Bank Park.
The Phillies started a late-inning rally. The opposing team relied on a left-handed reliever to squash it.
Detroit's Bobby Seay did in the Phillies this time. After allowing consecutive singles to switch-hitting Shane Victorino and lefty-hitting Chase Utley to start the seventh, Seay whiffed lefty slugger Ryan Howard. Aaron Rowand, a righty, followed with a lineout.
Seay departed, the Detroit bullpen recorded one more out, and the inning ended without the Phillies scoring. So continued the Phillies' season-long struggles against lefty pitching.
