Jun. 20--Facing Johan Santana is no way to build a winning streak. The Mets knew it would be a tough task to beat the two-time Cy Young winner last night, but they made it impossible in a 9-0 loss to the Twins that squashed any momentum built from Monday's ego-boosting win.
Jorge Sosa planted the Mets in a 5-0 hole after only two innings and Santana (7-6) spent the night shoveling dirt on them. The Twins' ace fired a four-hitter for his first shutout since 2005 and the fourth of his career. He retired 15 of his final 16 batters after Damion Easley's leadoff single in the fifth.
