Derek Lowe and Ervin Santana matched each other inning for inning. They worked much quicker and more efficiently Friday night than the woman who sang the national anthem before the game.
All good pitcher's duels must come to an end, and this one did too. Ironically enough, Lowe - who pitched a brilliant game with a career-high 11 strikeouts - wound up on the winning end after having pitched three complete-game losses this season.
