Even if you follow Sure-Jell's instructions, it's just too easy to get a rubbery result. And there's the principle of the thing. Sure-Jell's motto is "All of the love, none of the labor." To me, the labor is the point. If I wanted the labor to be easy, I'd just buy strawberry preserves.
